Title
A cast copper-alloy Roman disc brooch dating 100 to 200AD.
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy Roman disc brooch dating 100 to 200AD. The circular brooch is flat and has a plain edge which is damaged around most of it's circumference. It has a flower made up of six petals originally inlaid with red enamel of which some traces remain. The back of the brooch contains a broken single pierced lug with a spring mechanism that is now missing. Iron corrosion around the mechanism suggests that the spring would have been iron. Opposite the spring is the base of a broken catchplate. The length is 32mm, width is 25mm and the weight 23.07g. The brooch is similar to NLM-066FD4 on the database.
