[edit]DescriptionA busy harbour - geograph.org.uk - 1731971.jpg |
English: A busy harbour
This photograph of the Old Harbour https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1727915 was taken from the Old Pier and shows two timber boats moored along the goods quay, a fishing boat (the 'Utilise' FR-325 out of Fraserburgh) and the Coronia (a pleasure boat). The left hand boat is the K****lingen (only partially in shot) and the other is the Helga Matthiesen. To see a photograph of other wood boats moored at the same quay, click here https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1731819 . The Coronia in this photograph was the second Scarborough pleasure boat to hold this name. The first vessel of that name was sold in 1968 and transferred to Bournemouth as the Bournemouth Queen. The Coronia here is the renamed Yorkshire Lady. (Text from Simplon - The Passenger Ship Website: http://www.simplonpc.co.uk .) The 'Utilise' FR-325 out of Fraserburgh must have been based in Scarborough or was a regular visitor as she can also be seen in this earlier (1967) photograph, https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1727915 . The buildings beyond the harbour are on Sandside. - - - The data given for the date taken is the processing date on the slide and therefore could have been taken several weeks earlier. |
