Title
A buckle frame, made from copper alloy
Description
English: A buckle frame, made from copper alloy. The frame is ‘D-shaped’, measuring 25.56mm wide, 21.05mm long and 2.69mm thick. The straight connecting edge is slightly thinner than the curved section. The frame is made from one piece of copper alloy and rounded in shape, weighing 2.69 grams. There appears to be no decoration on the frame, and it is in reasonably good condition. The pin and plate are missing. The buckle type is seemingly Medieval; similar examples are known from the late 13th-, and 14th-centuries in London (Egan and Pritchard 1991 ‘Dress Accessories’, no. 397-400). Although there are no exact parallels, it appears likely the buckle is Medieval as similar types are apparent.
