Title
A beaker period thumb-nail scraper
Description
English:

A flint thumb-nail scraper of very late Neolithic/Chalcolithic (Beaker Period) date c.2600-2200BC, possibly unfinished..

Description: The scraper is irregularly, but has a rounded scraping edge. It has invasive scaled abrupt retouch around the entirety of the rounded right and bottom edges of the dorsal facing. along the top edge appears to have some remnants of retouch but the large hinge fracture on the ventral side appears to have broken most of the edge away. The two hinge fractures on the ventral face may have been intended flatten the bulb of percussion or the conchoidal fracturing but instead, due to a fault in the flint created the two uneven hinge fractures. It is uncertain therefore if this is the finished product. Almost all the striking appears to be with heavy hammer technology. The scraper is dark grey mottling through some patches of lighter grey/white around the fault.

Measurements: 31.52mm x 36.64mm, thickness: 12.6mm, weight: 13.67g
