Title
A Roman mount.
Description
English: The mount is probably of a Roman date, as the design is reminiscent of Roman disc brooches, for example (Hattatt 526 and 532). It is made from cast copper alloy.

In plan the mount is circular with a small lug on opposite edges. The lugs have a small hole in the centre, presumably a rivet hole. The upper surface of the mount is decorated with a border of sub-rectangular cells around the edge. In the central a six-petalled flower is create with a high-relief outline, and in the centre is a small pellet. There is no trace of enamel in any of the cells.

The reverse is flat and undamaged, there it was not originally a brooch. The surface of the mount has a matte blue/green patina.

The mount weighs 8.71g. It measures 35.1mm long, 26.7mm wide and 2.4mm thick.
