Description |
English: A Post Medieval lead alloy button (17th century). This button is circular with a domed surface decorated with a six-bladed impeller with an engrailed border. On the reverse is the remains of the loop for attachment. The loop has a solid circular-section stem which is present but the loop at the end is broken and missing.
This button is very similar to no 256 illustrated in Read (2005:66); Read dates this type to the 17th century. Dimensions: thickness: 8.66mm; diameter: 17.85mm; weight: 3.70g. Read, B. 2005. Metal Buttons C.900BC – AD1700. Portcullis Publishing, Langport, Somerset. |
