Title |
A Post Medieval copper alloy dress hook. |
||
Description |
English: A Copper alloy dress hook, cast in one piece, of uncertain date, possibly Post Medieval. The body of the hook is an inverted triangle in plan, which them flares out to form a rounded knop on either side at the base. The head of the body is trefoil shaped. There appears to have been a swirling design on stamped on the front of the body, but this is now very worn. The hook appears to have been attached by two iron rivets which are still present in the centre of the body. The hook is 47.3mm long, 18.8mm wide, 3.6mm thick and weighs 8.9g. A similar example can be seen in Read (2008)ref 782 (page 217). |
