Title
A Medieval ceramic glazed floor tile
Description
English: A Medieval ceramic glazed floor tile (AD1350-1400). The tile is decorated with a two-tone pattern comprising a central flower with eight petals within a circular border constructed from four strands with radiating ends which extend to the ends of the tile. There is a repeated pattern in between each of those radiating ends but the detail of the pattern is difficult to decipher.. The pattern appears to form part of a larger interlace pattern spanning several tiles. Some of the tile and the pattern are missing.

Jackie Keily suggests it was produced in Penn, Buckinghamshire. The fabric includes red iron oxide inclusions.

Dimensions: length: 109mm; width: 114mm; thickness: 21mm; weight: g.

Identification by Jackie Keily, Curator, Museum of London.
