Description

One of the few shots I have of this rare (in our region) "Near Threatened" bird. The larger male was feeding the one on the left, but I am not sure whether the bird on the left is a female or a juvenile (I suppose its a female, but not certain). It is very much like that of the Rose Ringed Parakeet, but it has a small blood colored patch on the wings.

The bird is named after "Alexander The Great" who transported a large number of these back to Europe as gifts to various nobles.

I sighted these birds deep in the forest and caught this quite by accident. The smaller one stayed for a while as the male flew away shortly after this shot.

I don't consider this as a good shot, but am quite happy to have sighted a pair in action - and it was only my second sighting of this bird.
