Description

Dave Hill gentles the Democratic donkey past the noisy William Hearst and his pet tiger; the donkey pulls Aunty Democracy and Alton Parker in a cart. The caption reads "That Hearst boy was scaring the old donkey into a panic when Dave Hill rushed bravely ip to the frightened animal and guided it past the cause of its alarm." Hearst and Parker were the two main candidates for the Democratic Nomination, both from New York, and Hill was the New York party boss.
