Description

In the sky some distance above us was a Short Toed Snake Eagle being chased by two Oriental Honey Buzzards (a bit too far for photography, but easy to sight) and an Eurasian Sparrowhawk. We were excited about the territorial fight and were waiting for an opportunity to shoot when we spotted this juvenile Goshawk gingerly resting on the tree. It wisely stood out of the fight. Many of the small birds hid inside the canopy and this one was looking for some breakfast. We were too close to it and as we made a few steps to the left, the bird flew away.

This is a full year resident raptor in the country and often sighted. It is known to be quite ferocious with small birds, but few of us have seen it in action. Quite common in the countryside where lots of small birds like weavers, bulbuls, sparrows are present.
