| Description |
One of the 5-6 variants of shrikes in our region, this type is a bit active this season already. The Shrike is actively hunting for insects. Its hunting mode is similar to Drongoes and Bee Eaters with a small difference. These birds survey from a clear perch and wait for something to show up. Once these birds sight a prey, they would fly, grab it and land back on the same perch. Except that the Shrike, dives onto the ground, catches the insect and gets back to the same perch. Secondly, the Shrike hunts within a distance of 10 m max, while Bee-Eaters and Drongoes hunt for almost 2-4 times that distance before coming back to the same perch.
