Description
English: "Because of the explosion that damaged the Service Module, the three Apollo 13 astronauts were forced to use the Lunar Module (LM) as a "lifeboat." However, the LM's supply of carbon dioxide filters was stored outside where they would ordinarily have been retrieved on a moonwalk. Ground personnel improvised this carbon dioxide filter dubbed the "mailbox," which the astronauts then "copied" in space."
