Summary

[edit]
Description

French cold-war era light tank The AMX-13 was so named because the initial design only weighed 13 tonnes. Around 7,700 were built between 1952 and 1987, with 3,400 of those being exported to 26 other countries. French examples were armed with a 75mm or 90mm gun, whilst some of the export variants had a 105mm gun. There were also several specialist versions, including Anti-aircraft, bridge-laying, combat engineer, armoured personnel carrier, recovery and self-propelled gun variants. This 75mm example was one of several vehicles stored, but not fenced off, at the far end of the main museum building. Musée des Blindés, Saumur, Pays de la Loire, France
