DescriptionAKAI APC40 with Custom Wooden Side Panels.jpg |
I bought the APC40 the first day it came out and I can't say enough about it. A few weeks ago I took it to the studio and it was sitting next to my guitarist's moogerfooger. I thought if there was a way to mount wood side panels on the APC40, it would be well worth the effort. Armed with a jigsaw and a Dremel, I made a couple of rough measurements that turned out to align correctly. Most of the work involved was sanding and cutting — I had to inset most of the inside plane by 1cm to accommodate space for the plastic tabs on the chassis. The screws on the inside were replaced by longer, wood screws. They aren't perfect, but they definitely gave my APC40 a timeless design. Also: Check out this mod by auditorycanvas! |
