English: Mr Gainsford, Director of the Sheffield Coal Company, taking delivery of a new shunting engine, No. 972 in 1903. The engine went onto work at Birley West Colliery until it ceased production in 1908; then the engine found work at the coking facility until 1925. No 972 was transferred to the company's Beighton Colliery for a short time, until it was passed over to Brookhouse Colliery for the remainder of its working life. It was scrapped in 1940 |
