Title
AED071. Post-medieval zoomorphic knife end cap
Description
English: A cast copper alloy knife end-cap or stop. A zoomorphic end-cap in the form of a stylised animal’s head, possibly imitating a heraldic emblem such as a bear or dog’s head. The details are marked by incised lines around the snub nose and mouth and across the brow. The eyes are indicated by two deep circular recesses. At the base of the stop is a remnant of the iron tang of the knife, the handle of which this once decorated.
