Description
English: The New California State Flag features the original lone "Red Star" from the November 5, 1836 Alta California Independence movement. The movement declared independence from Mexico and created a white flag that featured a large "lone" red star. Known as the "Alvarado" flag the red "Lone Star" was in tribute to Texas and its white "Lone Star" flag that had declared its independence from Mexico in March 1836. The "Gazing Bear" is looking at the star in a hopeful posture.
