Description

Une monnaie en argent d’une drachme d’un prince turco-hephtalite d’Afghanistan aux environs de 600-719 AD. Cette émission a pour prototype une monnaie de Khosro II (590-628) A/ Buste du roi vers la droite avec une couronne ailée. Inscription en brahmi autour du buste : devant de bas en haut « Sri Varaja », derrière de haut en bas « Vakh Devah ». Double cercle. A l’extérieur, légende en cursive grecque (Lecture à partir du haut à droite de la couronne dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre) : Sri Bago Oz(o)r(k)o Booh[ono] Dava Bago Sr(i)o Shaho. Contremarque qui perturbe la légende grecque là où j’ai mis les crochets. R/ Autel du feu avec deux servants très schématisés. Autour légende en Pehlevi : à gauche AFZUI, à droite (illisible sur cette monnaie) PIY ShAMRAT. Double cercle. A l’extérieur, (Lecture à partir du haut à droite de la flamme dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre) : Sri Bago Ookbo Bago …. (Suite incertaine) Dimension : 32.4 mm Poids : 3.1 g. Référence : Göbl 244 ; Mitchiner ACW 1560 Ce roi gouverne le Zaboulistan c'est à dire la région de Zaboul en Afghanistan (actuellement) en 624 AD.

Cette monnaie provient d'un trésor d'environ 450 pièces trouvé à Ghazni en Afghanistan en 2011.
