Description

Une monnaie en bronze de 4 drachmes (un tétradrachme) de Kudjula Kadphisès (ca 40-90/95 AD), fondateur de l’empire Kouchan. A/ Buste d’Hermaios tourné vers la droite ; Β(AZ)ΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΤΗΡΟΣΣΥ ΕΡΜΙΟΥ (les lettres A et Z sont illisibles) R/ Hercules avec une massue et une peau de lion. Écriture en alphabet Kharoshthi : Kujulakasasa Kushana Yavugasa Dhra(mathi)dasa (les lettres ma et thi sont illisibles) Dimension : 22,08 mm Poids : 7,5 g. Référence : Mitchiner ACW 2844/48

Sur cette monnaie, Kudjula se dit yabghu kouchan. Il n'est pas encore grand roi du royaume Kouchan. Ces monnaies seraient originaires des Paropamisades, au sud de l'Indou Kouch, certaines ont été découvertes vers Begram.
