Description

Une tétradrachme en bronze du roi Sôter Mégas (92/97-110 AD) émise à Taxila. La monnaie est en bon état et permet de lire la titulature. A/ Portrait du roi vers la droite, couronné d'un diadème entouré de rayons, tenant un sceptre ; derrière la tête un tamga. R/ Roi à cheval vers la droite tenant un pic de guerre. Même tamga. ΒΑ(CΙΛΕVΒΑC)ΙΛΕVΨΝCΨΤΗΡΜΕΤΑC Diamètre : 21.68 mm Poids : 8.2 g. Référence : Mitchiner ACW 2930 et suivants, Göbl 2332 (1978)

Soter Megas n'est pas un nom mais une partie du titre "Basileus Basile(u)ôn Sôter Mégas". Le nom de ce roi est inconnu. Il semble que ce soit un usurpateur pendant le règne de Wima Takto. (O. Bopearachchi, 2006)
