Description: The station was established at the end of the 19th century after the railway to Jerusalem began operating. The nearby Katalav stream was used as a source of water for the steam boilers of the trains that stopped at the station during the Ottoman rule and during the British Mandate. (Wikipedia)

תיאור: התחנה הוקמה בשלהי המאה ה-19 לאחר שמסילת הרכבת לירושלים החלה לפעול. נחל קטלב הסמוך שימש כמקור מים לדודי הקיטור של הרכבות שהיו עוצרות בתחנה בזמן השלטון העות'מאני ובימי המנדט הבריטי. (ויקיפדיה)
הערות: המבנים ההיסטוריים של התחנה מתחלקים לשתי תקופות: למרגלות המסילה, בסבך הצמחייה של נחל שורק, ישנם המבנים הקדומים יותר של התחנה שנבנו ונעשה בהם שימוש בשלהי התקופה העות'מאנית. לצד המסילה נמצא המבנה הבולט ביותר במתחם התחנה, שהוקם בימי המנדט הבריטי כמה שנים לאחר מלחמת העולם הראשונה. בסביבות התחנה נמצאים גם שני פילבוקסים שמהם הגנו החיילים הבריטיים על מסילת הרכבת יפו–ירושלים - האחד ממזרח לתחנה והשני ממערב לה.
