Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_89879_20220904_171722-01.jpeg Notes: בניין מגדל שלום בתל אביב היה גורד השחקים הראשון בישראל. בחנוכתו היה המבנה הגבוה ביותר באסיה. גובהו כ־129 מטרים. נחנך ב 1965 בקצה רחוב הרצל, במקומו של המבנה הישן של הגימנסיה העברית "הרצליה" שנהרס. ההריסהעוררה את תנועת השימור העירוני, ובעקיפין הביאה להקמת המועצה לשימור מבנים ואתרים. המגדל הוקם על ידי חברת כיכר הרצליה. בהמשך רכשו האחים מאיר את רוב מניות החברה ובניין נקרא על שם אביהם שלום מאיר. במקום היה הדרגנוע הראשון במדינת ישראל. בספטמבר 1965 נפתח כלבו בבניין שכלל כאלפיים משרדים וחנויות.
