Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_81885_חורשף_11.jpg Notes: מתוך סדרת נופי צומח צמחי חוף הים של עוזי פז. קוץ רב-שנתי עדין, הפורח בקיץ בקרקפת ציורית בצבע לילך-סגול עז. ארצישראלי כמעט בלבדי (תת-אנדמי), גדל פרט לארץ רק בלבנון. השם חורשף מקורו בכתבים עבריים מימי הביניים, והוא מזכיר את השם הערבי חוּרְפֵישׁ בשיכול-אותיות. השם הערבי מתייחס למינים שונים של קוצים, כגון ברקן וגדילן. החורשף המצוייץ נקרא בערבית בשם "שוק אל-ע'זל", היינו קוץ הצבי, על שום יופיו ועדינותו.הצמח בולט בפריחתו הקיצית, בעונה שמעטים בה הפרחים. הוא בולט בנוף ביופיו גם אחרי הפריחה.
