Description 80-G-244775: Operation Overlord, Normandy Landings, June 1944. USS LCT 703 was mined strafed and hit by 88’s on the coast of France on D-Day and abandoned. Here the crew looks at the damage. About a half a minute before a mine blew a hole right through the LCT, MoMM3C Lewis A. White, USNR, was standing right where the hole is. Photograph received: September 11, 1944. U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/04/19).
