Summary
[edit]Description76079 leaving Whitby - geograph.org.uk - 1765297.jpg |
English: 76079 leaving Whitby The ex-BR mogul 76079, owned by Riley and Son(E) Ltd. works a train from Whitby returning to the North York Moors Railway under an overcast sky with drizzle. The engine is on the curve by the River Esk about a kilometre from Whitby station and is just about up to the speed it is allowed on this section of line, puffing out a cloud of steam that smells so wonderful and takes those of us old enough (only just:) to remember mainline steam back to our youth when friendly guards would wave to children taking the long way home from school to get a chance to watch more trains go past... |
