Summary
[edit]Description66051 Dollands Moor to Scunthorpe Redbourne sidings 4E26 (12693991474).jpg | DB Schenker's class 66 (JT42CWR) number 66051 in English, Welsh and Scottish Railway maroon with zigzag gold band held at a red light while working 4E26 from Dollands Moor sidings to Scunthorpe Redbourne sidings on 22 February 2014 having also worked the same service the day before (www.flickr.com/photos/99279135@N05/12673797355/in/photost...). It was also photographed later on route at Maxey by Dave Lazenby (www.flickr.com/photos/37413/12842264414/). This service returns empty steel wagons used to transport steel for export in billet form from Tata Steels Scunthorpe complex on South Humberside in Lincolnshire to a freight yard at Ebange in Eastern France via the Channel Tunnel. Nicolas Tomaszewski photographed a loaded service running between Calais and Ebange on 19 February 2014 (www.flickr.com/photos/96650992@N07/12726306763/in/photoli...). Once in Ebange the steel is used at Tata's Hayange rail mill to produce rail for SNCF's LGV Est européenne construction programme to extend the French high-speed rail network. Similarly 66051 ran light engine in this slot on 17 February 2014 (www.flickr.com/photos/99279135@N05/12585964535/in/photoli...). 66051 was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, London, Ontario, Canada in 1999 and unloaded from the Heavy Lift Ship MV "Fairlift" at Newport Docks on 6 January 1999. |
