English: 8 lithic implements

 

 1, Truncated piece, length 17mm, width 19mm, thickness 6mm.  D-shaped cross section, on bulb of percussion on the ventral, retouch on both sides at a semi-abrupt angle with short scaled direct retouch on either side.  Brown flint with a creamy patina forming.  The bottom section is snapped, this is an old break with patina on the surface the opposite end is shattered probably from frost damage.  Date Probably Neolithic.  

 2, Miscellaneous retouched piece, length 19mm, width 21mm, thickness 4mm.  Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal with about 10% of the surface covered by the cortex, large bulb of percussion on the ventral.  Retouch at the base at a semi-abrupt angle, scaled, short direct flaking scars. Brown flint with lighter and darker mottling.  Date Prehistoric.  

 3, Knife? length 24mm, width 15mm, thickness 6mm.  On the dorsal there is one arise that is off centre.  Bulb of percussion is missing from the ventral.  The right side has the remains of the cortex running down its length (about 30% of the whole artefact).  The left side has inverse short, low angled retouch.  Brown flint with lighter mottling.  Date probably Bronze Age.  

 4, Miscellaneous retouched piece, length 39mm, width 18mm, thickness 11mm.  One arise on the dorsal with two facets on the left side, no bulb on the ventral.  There are short, direct retouch on the top half of the left side.  Light brown patina.  Date Prehistoric, but the colour of the patina may suggest a late Palaeolithic date.  

 5, Core, length 26mm, width 25mm, thickness 17mm.  Conical shape, multiple narrow flake scars on the dorsal and left side, flat ventral, there is only one striking platform although flakes have been removed from the other end as well.  Grey flint with lighter patches and darker mottling.  Date Mesolithic. 

 6, Concave end scrapper, length 43mm, width 27mm, thickness 10mm.  Large bulb of percussion on the ventral 30% cortex on the dorsal.  The base of the flint has concave, bifacial, scaled rough retouch 21mm long and recessed by 5mm.  Dark brown colour.  Date probably Bronze Age.  

 7, Miscellaneous retouched piece, length 39mm, width 33mm, thickness 6mm.  Large bulb of percussion at the base of the ventral, the dorsal has cortex covering the left side and the top edge, about 20% coverage.  The right side has low angled, direct, sub-parallel retouch along its length.  Brown flint with lighter patch 

8, Miscellaneous retouched piece, length 50mm, width 72mm, thickness 26mm. D- shape in plan. The ventral has been truncated by frost damage, patina has started to form over this part. The curved edge has rough, direct, sub-parallel retouch, along the top half, patina started to form in the flaking scars. The lower half has been damaged probably due to modern agricultural processes these are fresh breaks. The flint is dark brown, the dorsal has a thick creamy patina. Date prehistoric.
