English: The 61-023 B-52H Stratofortress depicted here was flying at 14,300 feet and about 345 knots, when it encountered severe clear air cross-turbulence (a Colorado mountain gust of about 100 mph) and lost the vertical stabilizer. The crew managed to fly it to a safe landing in Arkansas. |
