[edit]Description578WirtschaftswaageH1a.jpg |
This scale is a spring scale and determines a weight based on the deformation of a spring inside the scale. Originally, spring scales had the disadvantage that the weight could only be weighed to an accuracy of 50g and the spring lost its tension with use.
Household scales with the inscription ‘Wirtschaftswaage Fabrik Marke S&E’ on the enamelled dial. Art Nouveau version of the scales. The lower part of the dial shows the maximum load capacity of 10 kg. Spring scales determine a weight based on the deformation of a spring inside the scale. The scales weigh up to 10 kilograms with an accuracy of 50 grams. These types of scales were manufactured from around 1880 to around 1930. Between 1880 and 1887, at least 7 patents were granted for commercial scales in Germany. For a search in depatisnet (the database of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office), it is important to use the spelling ‘Wirthschaftswaagen’ or ‘Wirthschaftswaage’ in the title field. (Link to Depatisnet see under Weblinks). As this scale bears no indication of patent protection (labelled D.P.A. or D.R.P.A.), it can be assumed that it was produced at a time when the patent protection had expired. https://virtualtour.deutsches-museum.de/navvis/?site=1893603346956088&vlon=4.01&vlat=-0.02&fov=100.0&image=13637 |
