| Description |
English: Saturday 27th July 1996 dawned bright and sunny as I boarded Hertfordshire Railtours' "The Hale Stone" at Nuneaton for a trip along the truncated Midland Main Line through the Peak District. The tour was 40 minutes late arriving a Nuneaton, allowing a couple of other traffic shots to be captured first.
These scanned C41 negs show the train arriving at Nuneaton double-headed by two Class 47s - 304 & 287. 287 then promptly failed with a traction motor fire! 304 dragged the whole train to Crewe Sorting Sidings where help was duly summoned in the shape of 47 145 and coupled on for the trip around the "red track". The pics at Peak Forest were taken from the passing train window. |
