A "tub" against a French squadron

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A naval battle in 1782, in which a 44-gun English warship engages the flagship of a French squadron and a corvette; wood engraving for the story "A Cruise in a Tub." Once a Week, volume 2, page 519. The story appears to be referring to the action of 12 December 1782, where the HMS Mediator (1782) captured the American/French corvette Alexander and the French ship Ménagère.[1]
