Joshua Phelps, a machine gunner with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment and Waterford, Mich., native, and Cpl. Nathaniel Navarro, a mortarman with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and Brownsville, Tx., native, hold out coins awarded to them by Maj. Gen. Steven Busby, the commanding general of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., June 18. The Marines earned recognition for saving the life of an injured motorcyclist June 7. Navarro explained that they all acted on instinct, applying the lessons learned through their combat training to treat wounds and he’s glad the victim is alive today thanks to their actions. |
