Description
English: Elements of the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry, 199th Light Infantry Brigade and the 33rd Ranger Battalion, Vietnamese Army, having secured an area 24 km west of Saigon, at the intersection of the Kinh Kang and Kenh Ngang Canals during Operation Shelby, begin the construction of a forward base camp. MAJ Joe Williams (Houston, Texas), XO, 3rd Battalion, communicates with the pilot of a CH-47 helicopter (background) while SP4 Frank Harpend (San Dimas, California), radio-telephone operator, stands by.
