Transcribed from postcard: "Today looking up Third Ave. Seattle. Yesterday: Third Ave. in 1897 the old Hotel is shown on the Hill at the end of the Street. This Hill has been removed so that Third Ave. now extends level as a floor straight through what was the base of Denny Hill." The bottom view is taken from approximately 3rd Ave. and University St. and shows the Washington Hotel at the end of the street.
