Description
English: 330-PS-7776 (USN 709599): Toy Models Used To Study Sonic Bangs. Strong multiple shock waves produced by supersonic aircraft penetrating the sonic barriers, the cause of the mysterious sonic bangs, have been photographed by the Aeroballistics Research Department at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory, White Oak, Maryland. Dr. H.H. Kurzweg, Director of the Project, uses plastic toy models of modern fighter planes in the studies, a special method was devised for launching these models at slightly higher than sonic speeds, March 30, 1956.
