| Description | 330-PSA-366-62 (USN 711193): Six U.S. Navy fliers who flew one of the initial low level photographic flights over Cuba, for which they were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, reenact their last moments before taking off. In the name of the President (Kennedy), Rear Admiral Joseph M. Carson, USN, Commander Fleet Air, Jacksonville/Commander, Naval Air Bases, Sixth Naval District, awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross to the men for “extraordinary achievement in aerial flight.” From left to right: Lieutenant Commander James A. Kauflin; Lieutenant Commander Tad T. Riley; Commander William B. Ecker; Lieutenant Gerald L. Coffee; Lieutenant Christopher B. Wilhemy; and Lieutenant Junior Grade John J. Hewitt.
