Description
English: Copper alloy book clasp length 40mm, width 11mm, thickness 1mm, weight 1.79g. This example is rectangular in plan, with an expanded waist, the rectangular hook at one end is flanked buy two square lugs at the base. The opposite terminal flares out in a fan shape with two notches at the end, this is flanked by two square lugs at the base. Single rivet hole at the rear end. This artefact is heavily corroded. Artefacts such as this have been discovered during excavation to predominately date to the 15th and 17th centuries such as the examples found in York (Ottaway & Rogers, 2002, 2937-2939)
