Français : Les cristaux de glace en forme de plaques hexagonales contenus dans un nuages dévient la lumière provenant du Soleil ou de la Lune. Ces cristaux donne une déviation autour de 22 degrés, l'angle précis dépendant de la couleur car les cristaux agissent également comme un prisme qui décompose la lumière. La lumière perçue par un observateur à une distance donnée du nuage ne peut donc qu'être celle provenant d'un groupe spécifique de cristaux qui est autour de 22 degrés par rapport à l'astre (ligne solide), le rouge sera dans la partie interne et le bleu celle externe. La lumière provenant des autres groupes de cristaux (lignes tiretées) sera perçue à d'autres distances mais pour les observateurs à ces distances, l'angle entre le Soleil ou la Lune et le petit halo sera toujours de 22 degrés |
