Anne Sackville, Countess of Dorset (died 22 September 1618), née Anne Spencer, was the second wife of Robert Sackville, 2nd Earl of Dorset. Dorset was her third husband, the first two being William Stanley, 3rd Baron Monteagle, and Henry Compton, 1st Baron Compton, both of whom predeceased her. She was the daughter of Sir John Spencer of Althorp. Clifton arms apparently intended for Sir Gervase Clifton (died 1471) of Clifton, Nottinghamshire and London was a 15th-century English knight and landowner. He was beheaded after the Battle of Tewkesbury. Ancestry of Robert Sackville, 2nd Earl of Dorset: John Sackville MP (before 17 March 1484 – 26 September 1557) was a member of parliament for East Grinstead, and a local administrator in Essex, Sussex and Surrey. His first wife was Margaret Boleyn, an aunt of Henry VIII's second Queen, Anne Boleyn, and a great-aunt of Queen Elizabeth I. John Sackville, born before 17 March 1484, was the son of Richard Sackville (d. 28 July 1524),[2] esquire, and Isabel Digges, the daughter of John Digges, esquire, of Barham, Kent, by Joan Clifton, the daughter and co-heiress of Sir Gervase Clifton.
