| Description | This young hawk has been hanging around my house for the past week. A young red tailed, I believe. The weather has been dreary and the light poor, unsuitable for photography with my 200mm lens. I've been trying for days, getting only tiny dark images at the top of trees. But this morning, it must have heard me grumbling while it was sitting in the top of a tall walnut tree, because it flew down to a low, rotted poplar branch just long enough for me to run out into the street and snap half a dozen exposures against the pine branches behind it, before returning to its original, high perch out of range. It's been hanging around so much even the crows have quit harassing it. |
