English: Panoramic view of the Old State House in downtown Boston and surrounding buildings as seen from the southwest.
Quoting myself in a discussion on Wikivoyage: "The first time I ever visited Boston was in the summer of 1993 at the age of twelve, and the thing that stood out to me most - the most vivid memory I have of that trip - was the jarring anachronism of centuries-old historic buildings standing side by side with modern glass-and-steel skyscrapers. It really brought into sharp focus [that] these are the exact same streets where Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and all the other greats once trod." Add some early-20th century Beaux-Arts stuff to the mix and you've got quite the temporal diversity. |
