Regional Security Officer (RSO) Jason Willis Decorated as Malian Knight of the National Order of Merit U.S. Embassy Bamako's Diplomatic Security Service 's regional security officer Jason Willis was knighted by the Malian government on April 17 as Chevalier Ordre National du Mali. Mr. Willis dedicated the honor to, “all the security professionals, Malian and American, who have died in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel.” Malian Security Minister General Salif Traoré, decorated Mr. Willis on behalf of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, in Bamako at the Ministry of Security's headquarters in recognition of Mr. Willis's extraordinary leadership, and for partnering with the Malian security forces to combat terrorism and improve stability in Mali. Minister Traoré noted, “Jason's three years of service in Mali has aided Malian forces in becoming more professional, and I assure you that his efforts will not be lost, but continued and solidified." |
