Summary
[edit]Description2017 Maastricht, Bassin, Lumière 34.jpg |
English: Interior view of Filmhuis Lumière, an arthouse cinema in Maastricht, the Netherlands. In 2016 the cinema moved to the former power station of Sphinx potteries. The main entrance, box office, meeting rooms and offices are in the Hennebique building, which also features a grand staircase leading to an open space designated for open air film screenings. The 6 cinemas (of which one is shown here) have been built into the Ketelhuis where the steam engines once stood. The generator house, the Elektriciteitscentrale, is now a café and restaurant with an outdoor café facing the inner harbour Bassin. The area around Bassin is being developed as a cultural and leisure quarter with two cinemas, a pop music venue, and various cultural organizations, mainly based in disused factories. |
