Damaged scaffolding that an EF3 tornado brought down at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, in New Orleans, LA is seen piled and cordoned off for safety, near the facility that was once used to assemble Space Shuttle components, during a tour of the USDA National Finance Center (NFC) and other surviving and tornado damaged buildings located on the grounds of the NASA, on Monday, Feb 13, 2017. Scaffolding such as this, came from the corners of a tall nearby building that was also damaged by an EF3 tornado on Feb, 7, 2017. U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Acting Deputy Secretary Michael Young, was here to meet with NASA officials who provided him and others from USDA a view of possiable near and long term office solutions during a bus tour of this facility that is home to the National Finanace Center (NFC), in New Orleans, and was severely damage from the same EF3 tornado. The current Alternate Worksite (AWS) facility is 350 miles away, in Bossier City, LA. Approximately 1,300 employees were displaced, however, there are no reports of fatalities or major injuries. 182 employees are at the AWS supporting critical processes. They are Shared Service Provider for Financial Management Services and Human Resources Management Services.
