Summary
[edit]Description2016 Maastricht, Derlon Museumkelder, overzicht ontbijtruimte 2.JPG |
English: View of Museumkelder Derlon (Hotel Derlon Museum Basement, also used as a breakfast room) in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The museum features the 1983 archaeological excavations of an ancient Roman shrine from the 2nd century AD. The shrine stood along the main road from Tongres via Maastricht to Cologne, close to the bridge over the river Meuse. It consisted of an enclosed courtyard with a Jupiter column and a number of smaller monuments. Several objects found on the site are exhibited in glass cases. The site also contains remnants of the early 4th-century castellum wall and western gate. |
