Description

Purple threeawn (Aristida purpurea var. nealleyi), Grass family (Poaceae). Johnson Lakes Canyon, Kane County, Utah.

This variety has short (8-35 mm long) awns and stiff upright inflorescences. Location in Utah was not specified, although in the neighboring Nevada and Arizona, it covers all the west and south Utah boundaries.
