| Description | Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Agriculture Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden present a flag in memory of Dr. John Lydon to his widow in honor of his service and sacrifice in the performance of his duty while supporting the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) mission at the 2013 Secretary’s Honor Awards in the Jefferson Auditorium at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013. On Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, Dr. John Lydon of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) was injured in a car crash while traveling to meet with Parlier, CA scientists as part of his leadership and coordination of the ARS Weed Science National Program. Dr. Lydon passed away as a result of his injuries on Oct. 19, 2012. USDA photo by Lance Cheung. |
