Summary

[edit]
Description
English: [F120860] At the first panel, moderated by Keith Van Rijsbergen, are (l. to r.) William Newman, Calvin C. (Kelly) Gotlieb, Charles W. Bachman, and Wendy Hall. William Newman's father was a friend of Turing. Gotlieb, who pioneered digital computing in Canada, met Turing at Manchester. Wendy Hall provided a great account of what is being done to preserve Blechley Park and the Turing papers and legacy in the UK. The project screen behind the stage carried a live Twitter feed of the event (hash-tag #ACMTuring100). There were tweets from the audience and from those watching the live webcast. The moderators took questions from the audience (on fake 80-column punched cards) as well as from the Twitter stream.
