Description This is an infrared image of Hurricane Richard at peak intensity and making landfall on Belize, taken by the GOES-13 spacecraft. Leading up to this photograph, Richard had strengthened rapidly and radar imagery showed a closed eyewall. In this photo, Richard has windspeeds of 90 mph and a minimum pressure of 981 mbar. Eventually, Richard dissipated in the Bay of Campeche. Mouse over the image for information.
